The FBI waits outside the consulate for Homer to leave, unsuccessfully trying to force him out by playing Judas Priest music at high volume. While in hiding, Marge confesses to Homer that she turned him in. Homer, feeling betrayed, sadly surrenders to the FBI and is taken into custody. After oversleeping on his last day, Homer attempts to tackle the things on his list.
He has a man-to-man talk with Bart, listens to Lisa play her saxophone, and borrows Ned's camcorder to make a video of himself for Maggie to watch when she is older. Homer reconciles with his father, Abe, which takes up far more time than he expects and forces him to skip some of the other things on his list. It acquired a Nielsen rating of 14.1, and was the highest-rated show on Fox the week it aired. Fearing he only has three years to live, Homer takes the family on a vacation to Florida, where they become fugitives after seemingly killing a famous alligator. This marks the most-watched episode of the series since the twenty-second season episode "Moms I'd Like to Forget."

Homer area schools were placed on a “soft lockdown” Tuesday after the Homer Police Department was made aware of threats until the suspect was taken into custody. The episode received a 4.6 rating and was watched by a total of 12.04 million people, making it the most watched show on Animation Domination that night. Lisa takes the family to a Swedish consulate, since downloading movies is not illegal in Sweden.

The sushi bar that the Simpson family visits is located on a street called Elm Street, a reference to the A Nightmare on Elm Street film franchise. While waiting for Homer to finish his meal at the sushi bar, Bart and Lisa sneak into the bar's karaoke room and sing the theme song to the 1971 film Shaft, "Theme from Shaft" by Isaac Hayes. In the karaoke room, a gentleman introduces himself as Richie Sakai, a reference to a producer on The Simpsons with the same name. He proceeds to sing the 1971 song "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves" by Cher. Homer sings his own version of the gospel hymn "When the Saints Go Marching In" while listening to Lisa playing her saxophone one last time.

When the chef at the sushi bar finds out Homer has been poisoned, he yells at his apprentices in Japanese. The staff wanted the language they spoke to be actual Japanese, so they hired a Japanese actor who translated the lines for them. The episode introduced the character Akira, who has appeared many times later on the show. American actor George Takei provided the voice of Akira, although the character was voiced in later episodes by Hank Azaria. The episode featured many other guest appearances; Larry King as himself; Sab Shimono as the sushi bar chef; Joey Miyashima as Toshiro, the apprentice chef who slices up the fugu; and Diane Tanaka as hostess of the bar.
In a Tuesday letter to Homer High School families, Principal Douglas Waclawski confirmed notification of a “perceived threat to the safety of students and staff at a non-identified Homer Area School.” Waclawski goes one to say that the threat was “not valid” and that schools were safe. The /r/TheSimpsons subreddit is fan base of redditors who love The Simpsons. The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company.
Storyline
Homer considers it a treat, but the master chef soon returns and finds that the fish has not been prepared correctly and tells Homer that he may have been poisoned. After being filled in about the situation, Dr. Hibbert informs Homer that given the story Marge and the chef's had told him, it was very likely that he had accidentally consumed the poison of the blow-fish and if so he has twenty-four hours left to live. At night with Marge by his side, Homer plans not to tell his kids about the bad news and makes a list of all the activities he wants to do before he passes on. The episode was written by Nell Scovell and directed by Wes Archer.

Homer has also made various homophobic comments, especially in Homer's Phobia. In that episode, he was angry he could no longer say only straight people have been in his house. He used offensive language against John, a gay man who befriended Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson.

Kill the Alligator and Run is a great Simpsons episode with a well written plot and tons of funny moments. It's a very fun viewing as it is packed with adventure, as the Simpsons struggle to escape the law while vacationing in Florida after accidentally killing their mascot, an alligator.
Federal Court, Homer makes no attempt to defend himself and is found guilty of illegal reproduction and distribution of copyrighted material. Before he is sentenced, and with some encouragement from Marge, he delivers a speech about his movie piracy. The FBI raids the Simpsons' house and arrests Homer for movie piracy. Homer's bus to Springfield Penitentiary gets taken over by the prisoners who all consider copyright infringement to be much worse than robbing a bank or trafficking drugs and plan to kill him for his actions. The bus crashes and falls onto a ledge, where Homer is rescued by a passing train after the prisoners abandon the bus. He returns home and refuses to turn himself in after Marge asks him to give himself up.

In "Homer Goes to College", Homer spikes the punch at a college dance with alcohol. Also in "The Springfield Connection", When Officer Marge catches Homer for illegal parking, Homer states his intention was to buy beer for Dolph, Jimbo & Kearney. In "Co-Dependent's Day", he frames Marge of drunk driving when he was the one guilty of the crime.
